OUR HALAL PROCESS
We have a duty to you. That is why we will never compromise on our strict adherence to Halal requirements. To ensure this, all of our Halal processes are completed and overseen by a team of Muslim blessers.
The blesser begins by reciting Allah’s name and Tasmiah (Bismillah Allahu Akbar). The blessers continue to repeat this Tasmiah during the entire production. At the point of slaughter, a highly accurate, rotary knife blade precisely severs the respiratory tract, esophagus, jugular vein and arteries, leaving the head attached. The spinal cord is left undamaged and the nervous system still unharmed to ensure complete bleeding out. A backup Muslim slaughterer is on hand to ensure that there is no gap in the live blessings, and that every bird is accurately slaughtered.
Our Halal chickens are federally inspected for quality and food safety assurance. Our process also meets the rigorous production standards set by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency and Agriculture Canada. Our unique coding system for both meat and ingredients enables us to maintain the integrity of all of our Halal products.
A large number of Muslim Scholars have issued the Fatwas that chickens slaughtered by electrically driven machines/blades are perfectly Halal. There is absolutely no reference in the Quran and Sunnah that “hand” is a basic requirement for the slaughter of birds. It is always the knife (whether hand-held or electric rotary blade) that performs the killing. In any mechanical engineering terminology, a knife is also a machine – a manual one.

OUR HALAL STANDARDS
Zabiha Halal is a proud member of the International Halal Integrity Alliance. We fully endorse the Halal standards developed by the IHIA and sanctioned by Islamic Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Organization of Islamic Conference.
Zabiha Halal’s products and procedures are certified by the Canadian Halal Food Certifying Agency (CHFCA). The CHFCA understands the importance of following Islamic principles regarding the consumption of food and drink and have holistic expertise in Halal processes – including auditing, inspection and documentation. Our products are certified by the Halal Monitoring Organization (HMO), a non-profit organization based in Toronto. They are devoted to the analysis, monitoring, inspection and certification of Halal products for the Shia Muslim community. They are proud to certify Zabiha Halal products as Halal.

OUR HALAL TEAM
We have a team of several Muslim Blessers as well as a dedicated Muslim Marketing Team to serve the Halal market. All of the Blessers are under oath to perform the duties assigned to them with honesty and integrity. An Islamic Food and Nutrition Council of Canada auditor visits our plants on a regular basis to ensure that our Halal process is followed consistently.
